The Zaporizhya-based Motor Sich [MSICH UZ, BUY] company – the largest producer of aviation jets and gas-turbine units in the CIS – has announced its intention to deliver helicopter engines worth USD 12-13 mln to Canada. This announcement was made by Vyacheslav Bohuslaev, the Chairman of MSICH’s Board of Directors in an interview with the “Delo” newspaper.

Sumy Frunze Machine Building [SMASH UZ, N/R], one of largest European producers of equipment for the oil, gas, and chemical industries, has announced that it expects to increase its production by 40% YoY in 2008, which would put the total at roughly UAH 1.92 bln in value terms. For the same period, the company anticipates that its sales will grow by 51% YoY, from USD 281.4 mln in 2007 to reach USD 425.4 mln in 2008.

According to preliminary data, it appears that Zaporizhtransformator [ZATR UZ, N/R] – the world's largest manufacturer of transformer equipment – will achieve a 2008 sales level of about USD 700 mln, which is 70% higher than the 2007 level of USD 412 mln.

Luhanskteplovoz [LTPL UZ, U/R], one of the largest locomotive producers in Ukraine and the CIS, which is 76% owned by the Bryanskiy Machinery Plant (BMZ), has agreed with Russian Railway (RZD) on the production of 120 locomotive sections in 2009.

Stakhaniv Railcar Works, one of the largest wagon producers in Ukraine and part of the AvtoKrAZ holding, intends to increase statutory fund by UAH 158.473 mln (roughly USD 22 mln) to UAH 237.709 (roughly 32 mln) mln via additional issue of shares.

The AvtoKrAZ Holding Company [KRAZ UZ, N/R], based in Kremenchug (Poltava Region), has presented new technological models that may be used in the oil and gas complex. According to the company’s press service, they were demonstrated to participants of the exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2008”.

In November, the Bogdan Automobile Plant [LUAZ UZ, BUY] reported an output drop of 20.59% (or 1,497 cars) to 5,772 cars, compared to October’s production level.

In November, the Zaporizhia car assembly plant (ZAZ) – the largest producer of cars in Ukraine – reduced its production by 63.47% (or 11,539 cars) to 6,641 cars, compared to October. This data was released in a statement made by the plant, according to the Ukrainian News agency.
